These Moon and Sea wooden pendants can take the best part of a day to make. Combining a variety of skills I've honed in joinery, marquetry and silversmithing, I carve and inlay these tiny sculptural forms that embody the majesty of nature.
This Moon and Sea Pendant is carved in recycled walnut, inlaid with a central rainbow rose-cut moonstone, surrounded by eco silver stars, above a striking paua shell sea.
It is hung on a sterling silver 18" snake chain. Or alternatively, please contact me and I can make a brown hemp cord with slip knots.
h30 x w11 x d7 mm. This is one of the smaller size pendants I make. It is has a delicate look and weight for easy daily wear, or, the smaller size can suit the frame of a girl approaching her womanhood - menstruation.
Walnut
The healing properties of Walnut are said to help us to rely on our inner wisdom and discernment, prior to making decisions or taking any next steps.
Rainbow Moonstone
This moonstone has incredible bright blue flashes in it, much like the hot blue you see in the centre of a roaring fire. Moonstone is said to help us to open up from the crown, to remember our true nature, connecting to our intuition and insight, and, to all the different cycles we experience in life.
New Zealand Paua Shell
This shell piece is calm, even, pure and simple with lovely equidistant wave lines throughout. In certain lighting conditions it has blues, or sometimes electric greens and in darker lights it can turn deep purple.
Eco Silver Starry Skies and Horizon with Sterling Silver Chain
Sometimes these starry skies turn out a bit crazy and non-uniform which has its own wild magic, other times they appear ordered, balanced, bright and strong, the latter of which these are. The symbolism of silver is said to restore equilibrium and stability, while bringing protection by reflecting any unwanted energies away. On the reverse of the pendant are three stars in an inverted triangle. They symbolise wild, female, untameable, creative power also known as 'Shakti' in Indian tradition. This is Georgie Gilmore's makers mark.
